Chef Profile

City Inn welcomed new Head Chef, Alan Burns at City Cafe Glasgow in September 2007.

Owner of the Scottish restaurant Wild Bergamot for over seven years, Burns stamped his very individual mark upon it and achieved popularity and success, including 'The List's' Restaurant of the Year in 2006.

Burns' career has evolved from feeding thousands as an Army chef, to personal chef to the British Army Commander in the early days, to a variety of restaurant positions, most notably at Paul Heathcotes, while it enjoyed its two-star Michelin rating.

Alan is driven by a desire to evolve and has embraced the opportunity to become part of the forward thinking group at City Inn. Alan and his kitchen team have developed a selection of contemporary Scottish menus dictated by the team's dedication to sourcing and delivering top-quality seasonal produce, which sits comfortably within the City Café philosophy. Alan explains: "We use excellent suppliers, local where possible - people who really know their stuff! Their expertise, coupled with our own knowledge, ensures a pleasurable experience when dining in the cafe."

Alan works alongside Group Executive Chef, Scott MacDonald.
