Of course we understand there is a difference in visiting a webpage on Italy and actually spending time in Rome. Most would agree a trip in person is the more authentic experience; however, travel in the virtual word of information and images is a type of experience and there are arguments to be had over which experience is a better source for truth. Virtual experience and “navigation” through the internet give rise to many questions about authenticity, authority and the effects of democratising information and misinformation.
These ambiguities are present in the work of Daniel Crews-Chubb and I am very please to present his first solo exhibition here at City Inn Westminster after his recent graduation from the acclaimed Chelsea College of Art and Design, a close neighbour to the hotel.
City Inn runs a changing programme of art exhibitions across our 5 UK cities. Exhibitions are set within the public spaces of the hotels and open to view 24 hours a day. Each exhibition is curated by Hotel Art Curator, Meredith Gunderson.
