City Inn Art Exhibitions

City Inn Manchester: 24 hours a day.

'Manchester’
An Exhibition by Jean Hobson
1 February - 31 May 2010

‘Manchester’ brings together a body of work by artist Jean Hobson. This exhibition of paintings and drawings is inspired by Hobson’s fascination for the city’s contrast of old and new and uncovering the ‘real’ Manchester through her investigations of the life of the city. Hobson has been making work about Manchester throughout 2009, sympathetically recording the places that have captured her imagination and which she feels form a unique view of Manchester.

Opening the exhibition at City Inn Manchester is the Guardians Martin Wainwright, northern editor of the Guardian.  Wainwright states of Hobson’s work; ‘There is something special about Jeans paintings: partly an expression of her warm and sympathetic character but more importantly an originality which brings out those fleeting expressions, moods or physical characteristics which almost always defy the photographer.”

And as ever, my thanks to the City Inn Manchester staff and City Inn Head Office staff without whom these exhibitions would not be possible.

-Meredith Gunderson, Curator
